Its not about your nationality, but about us being a US based company.
The US sanctions are legally blocking us from paying a significant portion of Russian banks, most of those we have setup to pay by wire for our artists, for example. Third party partners such as Paypal/Payonner/Skrill/etc for privacy reasons do not tell us what bank a customer is with, so we can only know the country you are in based on the information you've provided to us. There are also many issues about the flow of money between banks as it is paid and if it will go through sanctioned banks or get held by intermediate banks because of the uncertainty and amount of change happening.
But, that is my rough understand to try to clarify some of the confusion. I may be wrong in some of what I wrote, just trying to give some info.. There are legal/accounting people at Shutterstock with much more knowledge who are actively working on figuring out how to get our artists paid. They working with banks and payment partners to get answers on these questions so we can get you all paid. Its just complicated and changing as we speak.
